Standardized Testing

To gain exposure to college testing, all freshmen, sophomores and juniors are required to take the PLAN and PSAT tests each fall. Test preparation classes are offered in the fall, spring, and summer. The PSAT test is also the National Merit Scholarship competition. In the short span of the high school’s existence, one student has received the Commendation Award. A number of students have received the Illinois Scholars Award.

Advanced Placement Tests

Six advanced placement courses have been offered at Islamic Foundation School in the last 4 years: English Literature, US History, Biology, Calculus, Psychology, and Physics. The goal is to add up to two AP offerings every year. Eleven students have received the AP Scholar Award for getting an average of 3 (score typically necessary to receive college credit) or better, on at least 3 exams.

ACT Tests

The average composite score on the ACT exam for the class of 2004 was 24.5. The average for the state of Illinois was 20.3 and the national average was 20.9. Over 90% of Islamic Foundation’s graduates to date have entered a four year college and have received scholarships; about 10% are attending a two year college.
