For over 20 years, Ghada Fahmy has been contributing to the growth of Islamic Foundation School. She acquired both her BA and MA in Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Currently, Ms. Fahmy is the Dean of Student Affairs and School Operations. She began her career teaching at the elementary and middle school levels in 1997. After 14 years of her efforts in the classroom, she took on a vital role as part of the leadership team. She headed the discipline team, coordinated the Math department, and led the Middle and High School staff during her tenure at IFS. In the past, Ms. Fahmy was an integral member of the school’s accreditation team, presented at the ISNA Educational Forum, and worked with AdvancEd to accredit other schools. In addition to her full-time responsibilities with the school, Ms. Fahmy was the first Muslim to serve as a board trustee at the Villa Park Public Library and is now serving on the Village of Villa Park Board on the Economic Development Committee. She has been running the summer school program for Islamic Foundation for over 15 years and is responsible for all logistics, including the hiring of teachers, implementing the curriculum, and overseeing school finances. Ms. Fahmy has attended numerous professional development conferences and seminars related to the latest trends in education methodologies, and she mentors teachers with her research-based, student-centered knowledge. Not only has she been a member of the school leadership team, but she is also a mother of five children where four of them graduated from IFS with the 5th child currently attending.
